Temptation

Jesus was tempted in the desert by Satan. The Bible says that the Spirit led Him there. God allows Satan to tempt us so we can learn to lean on Him and grow. My favorite part is after Jesus is finished Satan leaves and angels came and took care of Him..
As a parent I allow my children to pay the price for their actions. if they choose not to bring a coat and it rains they come home and say they got wet or were not allowed to play at recess. they learned a lesson on their own, we talk about what could have happened and then I take care of them by turning up the heat, giving them a towel if needed and offer a warm blanket.
It must have been difficult for God to allow His Son to hang out in the desert & watch Him be tempted by Satan. God knew that this had to happen. He could have provided food or comforted Him during His temptation but he was silent. Just as I decided to not drive to the school & bring my child his coat when it began to rain.
Jesus ministry began once the temptation was complete. he gathered his disciples and He began teaching & healing. My oldest son Malachi will forget his coat every once in awhile. But most of the time he grabs his coat and reminds his brother to do the same. It makes me so proud to know that he is growing and learning. 🙂
What lessons has your child learned the hard way? How did it make you feel? Have you ever given in and protected your child from learning a natural consequence?
