God Rested – So Should We

Passage: Genesis 2:2-3
Additional Scripture Readings: Deuteronomy 5:14 & Mark 6:31

This passage shares with us that after creating the entire earth God took a day off! After working for 6 days in a row He rested.

Do you take the time to rest?

Our Associate Pastor’s wife shared with us one morning that we must take a sabbath. It does not necessarily need to be Sunday (her family works that day :)) But once a week we must remind ourselves that even God took a day to regroup. Who is more important than He that is unable to take a day off! She shared that this sabbath day is something she looked forward to, this day was a day to recharge her batteries, have fun with the kiddos. This day paid off. The kids got their mommy time, she feel refreshed, her husband got some quality time with his wife. The whole family is different by this one day. You can move on to the next day and think WOW I am so glad I did that.. and when it has been a few days and you begin to get tired and you cannot think about doing this anymore… you have that day ahead that you can push forward and press on cause your day is coming to relax again! The more you get into this cycle the easier and better it becomes.
God thinks it is so important He even makes it one of his commandments. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Holy means to set apart. We are to take our day and set it apart from other days. It is not to be like any other day.

The C Team honors the sabbath. We set it apart from the rest of the week. No laundry, no extra chores, no work, no scheduled activities. It is our day to spend with one another in the Lord.
This Easter weekend is a great one to star honoring your Sabbath. What are ways that you and your family set (or will begin to set) apart from the rest of your week?

Blessings to you and yours…
