Genesis 25

Genesis 25

Jacob and Esau are twins that are nothing alike. Esau hunts and Jacob spends his time by the tents. Just as any children can do they bring trouble to their mom and dad. Boys will be boys they always say. Family conflict arises when Jacob, younger by minutes than his brother Esau, seeks the birthright (the right to the 1st born). The eldest son generally receives the greatest inheritance as well as the privileges and responsibilities of family leadership. Esau holds this position lightly while Jacob covets it. Perhaps this is just what Jacob was looking for to happen in order to supplant his brother as holder of the birthright. Just as his name Jacob is the Hebrew word for deceives.

Blessings to you and yours until tomorrow.
