When We’re at Loss

Passage Genesis 24:42-67

The ending of a chapter in your life, a loss of a friend, the death of a family member. We all experience it at some point of our life. For every beginning there is an ending.

Elisa Morgan tells us a story that in mourning the death of King Louis XV, the church bells of a cathedral in France were rung continuously for forty days and nights. As a result of this ringing the echoes of the ringing sounded continuously for an additional 20 years and 7 months.

Just like our time of mourning can remain once it is over, little things can remind us of what is no longer there. But over time the reminder is softer, the reminder has less affect. Time heals all wounds and we are restored and we are made whole once again. What was lost is now in us forever, unchanged, unbroken and made new. We are different because of the experience and we are stronger and made anew. We are ready for the new chapter in our life ….

Psalm 116:1-9

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest

Blessings to you and yours until tomorrow.
